Too Achy to Think Kind of Day

So I had a pretty miserable night. My arthritis took a nasty turn on me and every joint hurt all night long. I woke up at 6:30 and took a heavy duty pain killer and then at 8:30 I took a different kind of pain killer that would piggy back with the one I took earlier. By Mass time I was able to at least look as though I could move like I normal human being, but the pain killers were wearing off pretty quickly.

The family went to the movies this afternoon, but I decided it might be a better idea if I stuck close to the medicine chest. The last thing I want to do in my condition is be in a really loud movie theater when my pain meds wear off. Trust me I have been through this before.

So, yesterday I was noodling around on the Project Gutenberg Library site and found The Man Who Was Thursday in MP4 format and downloaded it and transferred it to my IPod. I think today would be an awesome day to have some great Chesterton read to me while I snuggle up in a nice warm bed; a little hot coffee and chocolate on the nightstand right next to my bottle of arthritis medicine.

And maybe, if I feel up to it I can even knit a few rows on the sock I am working on . . . no pressure though.

The trick is knowing your limits and being prepared. Lucky for me we went out and stocked up on Godiva chocolate just the other night!!!

My Love of Quotes . . .

must have gotten around last year because I got two awesome Christmas gifts based upon the concept of making sure I had plenty of quotes at hand at a moments notice.

One of the gifts is a Daily Calendar of Chocolate quotes. Each day has a different quote about chocolate (or the love of Chocolate). I suppose the fact that I am a true died-in-the-wool Chocolatarian had nothing at all to do with my friend thinking that would be a gift I would love. So far in the 8 days of this year my favorite quote has been:

I often lie awake at night wondering if in this huge and
mysterious universe there might planets
with nicer chocolate than ours. - anonymous
The other gift is a little packet of cards called Pocket Notes which have quotes on just about every topic one might imagine. The reason my friend gave me this was that during our gradual school classes I have a tendency to write little sayings on post-it notes to share with everyone around me. She said when she saw this little packet of quotes in the store it just put her in mind of me. Of course there aren't near as many snarky quotes in the little packet as there are on my post-its, but that is to be expected. I was doing mine to keep from going insane in philosophy class after all.
So far my favorite quote from this little packet has been:
You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note. D Floyd
So, now that I have these awesome gifts, I may from time to time have to share them with you all. Does that constitute a warning or an invitation, you be the judge.

Intense? Who, me?

You are Dark Chocolate
You live your life with intensity, always going full force. You push yourself (and others) to the limit... you want more than you can handle. An extreme person, you challenge and inspire the world!
What Kind of Chocolate Are You?

I suppose on further reflection even mrangelmeg would agree that I am a pretty intense person when it comes right down to it.

I do love dark chocolate.

My Motto is:

A day without sunshine is cloudy, a day without chocolate is unthinkable.

Love Means So Much More

Okay being the world's pre-eminent Chocolatarian I was very happy to read this article .

How could any group besmirch the role of chocolate in relationship of love by pairing it with condoms. I was so happy to see the other campus group to have chosen to win back chocolate's proper primacy of place by offering an abundance of chocolate for not choosing the condom.

All I have to say to those college kids is, Way to think. Chocolatarians of the world salute you.

Can't Help Lovin' That Man . . .

of mine.

So mrangelmeg went way above and beyond this Valentines day. He surprised me with some Ghirardelli Chocolates and a card this morning, but that wasn't all. Inside the card was a gift certificate to a local spa for a day of pampering. I mean the works; manicure, pedicure, and massage. I was totally blown away.

It was something I never would have imagined him getting me, and something I will really enjoy. The funny thing is, and I told him this, I was passing one of those nail places in the same strip mall near where I get my hair cut, (you know those places, where you can get the cheesy nails done by the people with the face masks.) and was considering getting my nails done just to see what it was like. Now I can get them done at a place that is a bit more up-scale.

Does this mean that after 23 years he has begun to read my mind? Now that is a scary thought.

In case you are wondering, my gift to him was a bag of Peanut M&M's (back in college when we met it was all we could afford, and until I became allergic to them was the traditional candy for giving at Valentines day. ) Besides that, he is going out of town next week on a golf outing with his dad for five days. That is a HUGE gift on my part!
