Blogaversary: I'm 7 This Year!

Seven years ago this month I started on this journey of blogging my thoughts for my loyal readers to enjoy. I have written a lot of my life experiences and done some pretty darn good essays about matters of faith. I have enjoyed sharing things I have read or seen on other sights or in the news. But to be completely honest, the most important reason that I have kept this up for seven years is that I can't afford therapy.

Writing is my therapy. I would continue to write on this blog if no one ever visited this site. I have wondered at times about ways to increase my readership, but it doesn't really matter. I write for me, and in some cases, I write for God. So if someone stumbles onto my site or is directed here because of my Facebook or Twitter links and is inspired or challenged by something I write, that is God's plan.

My goal isn't to have thousands of followers or win awards for what I write here. My goal is to write what is in my heart. If what I write touches one person, then that is enough for me.

Thank you to those of you who show up here from time to time to see what I decide to share on these pages. Thanks even more to those of you who comment on my posts, because your comments make me think and make me stronger in my faith and make me a better writer as well.

I wonder what the next year will bring? It will be fun finding out.

Sorry for the Silence

I realized this week that I have been in relative Blog Silence lately and I apologize. The new school schedules for the girls have been quite hectic, and I am just now finding my rhythm.

There has also been something going on in my spiritual life that I don't quite know how or even whether I should share yet, so I am "pondering it in my heart" and trying to discern what and or how I should share this part of my spiritual journey with you, my faithful readers. Suffice it to say that God has been sharing something very special with me. in a way that I have yet to find a way to describe. For a writer this has caused me no end of dispair, because I would love to share withyou the joy of my newest journey, but words fail.

I fullly intend to continue the Mystic Monday posts beginning next Monday, and hoppefully will be able to post at least three times a week now that our school schedule is a little more setlled into a regular pattern and I am used to it.

CRASH

My computer had a hardware failure yesterday. Lucky for me it is still under warranty and I can send it back to Dell for a fix. Unhappily I will have to borrow time on the son and heir's computer when he and the angelbaby aren't using it, so I may be a bit Blog-silent for the next few weeks. I will try to continue posting at least on Monday and Wednesday mornings because he works and she is in school so I know I can get computer time then.

I hope this doesn't take long, I may go into withdrawal. Especially since I don't get any chocolate for the next three weeks either.

Oh for crying out loud! I just terrible dreadful fear I have not updated this since people stopped clapping and Tinkerbell died... You would not believe how terribly tardy the Victorian internet can be. My bad..

I am distracted with my obsession of saving money, watching Dexter, just generally being a nuisance to the secret service, my day is a nightmare I would like to wake up from now to well after sun-down. I am putting money aside so I can run away. I wish you could be here to share it.

I won't promise anything to you but won't blog until the next time booze prices go up and I have to get sober for a while. Fully! This is for my ever faithful, devoted public..

My Blogaversary: I'm Four Years Old (In Blog Years) . . .

and I still look pretty good for the wear and tear over the years. I wanted to take this occasion to thank some people:

I want to thank my two loyal readers (and you know who you are) without you I would feel so all alone out here in the blogosphere.

I have to thank Alexa for creating my header when she made over my blog a couple of years ago. I have since changed templates but have kept her amazing header.

I want to thank all my blogging friends that I have met in those four years from practically the four corners of this great nation (and some from "across the pond").

I want to thank mrangelmeg who has been an inspiration and fodder for more than one post. If truth be told he is much funnier than I am, so most of my best humor stuff is borrowed from him (we have community property laws in the Midwest, don't we?)

I especially want to thank anyone who sent me a meme or quiz link the entire time I was in Gradual School (which was a majority of the four years) because without those time wasters, uh I mean wonderful diversions I might have gone right out of my head.

Seriously, I think blogging has been great fun and I hope to continue. Here's to many more inane, silly and sublime postings in the future.

Called Out by the Angelbaby

The angelbaby handed me the comics page from the Fort Walton Beach Sunday Times and said "Mom, I think you should read Pearls before Swine it reminds me of you."

Oh the heartache.

Where did she get that sarcastic sense of humor? Oh wait a minute I think that came from her dad and me, and we can't cry nature vs nurter here because either way we lose.

I Hit 20K

and I don't even feel tired!

I can't believe it; since August 2004 when I started this little experiment in writing down my radom thoughts this site has received over 20,000 hits. I may not be an Amy Welborn, but it feels pretty good to know that someone somewhere is actually reading what I am writing.

Getting Organized Around Here

For those of you not in the know, January happens to be National Get Organized Month.

In the spirit of getting organized I have decided to do some organizing around here.

This year I am instituting special blogging days to try to write more intentionally.
My New GO (Get Organized) schedule will be:

New Media Monday: I will explore new podcasts and innovations in new media that I have come across

Training Tuesdays: These will be stories and tips from my training experience now that I have a personal trainer.

What I am writing Wednesday: I will share a little snippet of the fiction I am working on, or a link to my latest Helium essay that I have up.

Theology Thursday: I will be reinstituting my angelmeg's theology lesson of the week from way back in the early days.

Fun Fridays: This will be the day for games, meme's quizzes and jokes.

The weekends will be free for whatever, and If I have a burning need to blog about something I may break the pattern to for newsblogs at anytime. And I haven't given up on my Mental Pause Moments.


This will be a great year, I can tell.
