Still Jobless After All These Weeks

Oldest daughter never got a call yesterday, so she is assuming that she didn't get the job and is back to filling out appications around town yet again today.

This is getting to be very discouraging for her. All I can tell her is to keep trying and keep praying and God will lead her to the job she is meant to have. I have also told her that we are all praying for her out here in cyberspace, so don't you guys let me down.

St. Anthony, St. Jude and St. Joseph pray for us,

St Therese, show us your little way.

Blesed Mother Mary, intercede with your Son for my daughter's needs.

Update on Job Search

Our Daughter called to tell us that her interview was awkward, but went pretty well. She really likes the laid back attitude of the non-corporate small business establishment and would fit in well there. The manager has to check her references and said he would call her on Monday.



Since she gave her two previous managers that really liked her and will give her very good references things look very good. She is coming out of a very dark time in her life thanks to the prayers and love of friends like you all.

Prayers Appreciated

Our oldest daughter has been out of work for over a month now and really trying to find another job but not having much luck. She has a very promising interview this coming Thursday for a job at a sandwich shop downtown, which would be pretty convenient for her and might work out well for her course schedule in the fall.

Please if you get a chance in the next few days say a special prayer that she be taken seriously in this interview and that she be offered this job if it is God's will for her. She is getting very discouraged by all of the rejection, and she really needs to start earning some money again.

We would really appreciate any prayer support you all can offer.

Bigger than a part time job

I was notified by the Principal of the Middle School that they had offered the position to a graduate of the IU Library Science Department. So I suppose I wasn't meant to be a part time Media Assistant next year.

I am a bit shocked that someone with a degree in Library Science would want a part time job. Is the market that saturated, or is this person a woman with children who really doesn't want to work full time-- who knows.

I know that, as nice as this little job might have seemed, God has grander plans for me and if I wait long enough they will be revealed to me.

On another note I was notified in an email yesterday that I probably won't find out till after Christmas what my grades will be on my finals. They were handed in to the registrar today (or was it yesterday-- this week anyway) but probably won't be processed and mailed out until the week between Christmas and the New Year.

The person who wrote the email said he was sure that I had passed, I would love to take his word for it, but I will be able to sleep a lot more peacefully when I have the paper in my hand that says I have actually passed and will be able to graduate in May. Then I will really feel done.

Until then, I will just sit and wait and pray and watch. God has something planned for me, I just wish he was a bit more forthcoming with the details.

Interesting Interview Questions

List three adjectives your children would use to describe you?

Not sure if I answered that honestly, some of the adjectives my older kids might use would be unacceptable in a middle school environment. I actually said scattered, but then explained that for the last few months I had been working on my MA final.


What is title of the last book you read?

I had to ask did he mean the last one I had finished reading or the one I was carrying around in my car to read while standing in the inevitable "Christmas Crunch" lines or any one of the five or so that I have on my headboard that I am working my way through? I think I named them all.

Are you capable of multi-tasking in a high pressure situation?

After asking this question then realizing that she was talking to a mother of five children she answered it for herself in the affirmative. I added that it is a good idea to prioritize needs so that the really important tasks actually get done when they need to get done.
