He might be angry at god or he might not believe in god or he might mean something else. It'd be interesting to ask him what he meant.

I doubt if I would ask him if I had the chance. I know, I'm chicken.Lynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12303928618967944030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7851418.post-1094484814752849922004-09-06T10:33:00.000-05:002004-09-06T10:33:00.000-05:00In your writing, you refer to a prayer by Thomas M...In your writing, you refer to a prayer by Thomas Merton... I did
recognize it because that is how I first learned of him...

MY LORD GOD, I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am
following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.
Thomas Merton, "Thoughts in Solitude"

I liked this prayer because it came to me when I was first really
trying to improve my spiritual prayer life and it sounded so much the way I felt from the very first line. Thanks for reminding me of it - I haven't seen it in awhile, so I printed myself out a nice copy.

I pray for this opininated sign painting man as well as for myself.
We all need to realize that God does still love us - that He has not forsaken us but maybe just the opposite and sometimes we just need to open our eyes and hearts a little wider to know and see.
This man has probably overlooked many times the many faces of Jesus
and His Love in his corner of the world. What is sad about a sign
like that is how young people who may be going through struggles and questioning and may not take the time to ponder as you and I have and may choose to take it at face value. Perhaps someone could think about making a sign or two nearby that would have a
different sort of effect and message! Just a thought!Suzannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06562238352430577651noreply@blogger.com
